The purpose of this blog is to explore Louisiana's strategy and capacity for advancing STEM education, careers, and workforce for all. Louisiana has its own array of STEM assets, strengths and approaches in place - thus this site is designed to discover these strategies and activities. Not just a PK12 issue - all stakeholders, higher education, workforce development, economic development, business & industry, are welcome to participate. Hopefully the site will pose and answer questions that will ultimately help guide and focus diverse partners in this effort.

Higher Ed

Higher education plays a vital role in building capacity for advancing STEM in the state - as a conduit between K12 and the workforce.  State policy has the potential to influence and drive increases in STEM professional certificates and degrees, research, and key collaborations with business/industry.

  • Expose K12 students to STEM learning environments on college campuses
  • Strengthen PK-16 STEM teaching and learning through research
  • Provide professional development for teachers
  • Grow the STEM teaching profession through unique teacher recruitment and education programs, as well as alternative teaching certification
  • Extend the STEM career pipeline through innovative outreach activities
  • Inform state policy on STEM education
Postsecondary Certificates and Degrees
